In the variety of cable and wire products, there are so-called special-purpose cables and wires that are used in specific conditions. Signal cables are laid both indoors and outdoors or underground using plastic wiring ducts or metal corrugated pipes. Their insulated conductors are made of copper or bimetal with a PVC sheath, with or without a protective shield. Shielded cables are used for electrical cable systems, where the protection of the transmitting signal from external interference or the quality of the signal itself is of particular importance: in audio, measuring equipment, for security, fire, and other low-current systems

Fire-resistant cables are widely used in the fire extinguishing systems, security and emergency systems, the functioning of which is critical in a fire. Their task is to maintain efficiency while people are in a fire hazardous zone. Such cables help to connect smoke and temperature sensors, fire handbrakes and alarm systems. They ensure the efficiency of fire, security, warning and evacuation systems in case of fire. They can be installed inside buildings or outside using protective equipment against weather impact and solar radiation. This type of cable does not spread combustion in conditions of single and group laying due to the use of ceramic-forming silicone rubber as insulation. In the conditions of the high temperatures that occur during a fire, the silicon dioxide appears and becomes an electrically insulating layer on the conductor. Due to this property, the cable continues to conduct electric current in a fire and remains operational for 30, 90 or 180 minutes, which allow evacuating people even from large multistorey buildings.

Signal cables can be made of self-extinguishing, flame retardant materials; materials that do not spread combustion in a bunched wiring with reduced smoke and gas emission, as well as with a coating of halogen-free materials that does not emit corrosive gas products during combustion and smoldering, poisonous to the human respiratory system and harmful to microprocessor technology.

One of the most common signal cables is the Alarm Cable. It is often used in fire and security alarm systems and for access control, communication and control systems. Since it is made with multi-wire copper conductor, PVC insulation, alumoflex screen, and PVC sheath, it is perfect for indoor installation under skirting boards or on walls with multiple bends.

Signal cables J-YY-PF, J-YYU-PF, J-Y(St)Y-PF, J-Y(St)YU-PF are widely used for the transmission of signals in the measurement and control systems, the telecommunication connections, signal and data transmission at the telephone switching exchanges and switchboards.

We should note (N) НХН and JE-H(St)H among the fire-resistant cables. They are used at high-risk facilities. (N) НХН is mainly used to ensure the capability of the electrical equipment, which is necessary for carrying out rescue operations during a fire (installation of fire extinguishing pumping stations, fire warning and extinguishing systems, power supply for emergency lighting, elevators and ventilation). And JE-H(St)H being manufactured with the use of halogen-free materials is used in almost all places of crowds and valuable items: medical and educational institutions, shopping centers and supermarkets, airports and train stations, office buildings equipped with computer and microprocessor technology, subway tunnels, entertainment complexes and sports facilities, and also in residential buildings and hotels.

Moreover, signal cables are often used for burglar-proof security systems as they allow connecting any sensors, readers, catchers and fixing devices to the central control panel.

The PRPPM wire is used for laying several telephone lines outside the premises. It is intended for use on subscriber telephone lines

and distribution networks of wire broadcasting. It can be laid on the walls of buildings, in the ground, telephone conduits, collectors, as well as on the supports of overhead lines, in areas not subject to strong ice and winds.

The TRP and TRV wires are used for stationary subscriber wiring of the telephone distribution network. Single-pair telephone distribution wire TRV is made with polyvinyl chloride insulation and is used for laying telephone lines indoors. And the TRP wire, made using polyethylene insulation, which is more resistant to environmental influences, can also be laid outside the structures.

Wires TRP and TRV are designed to ensure the operation of fixed telephony, are used to connect telephone sets and charge boxes in distribution boxes of subscriber wiring.

Thus, wires and cables for special purposes today are an extremely popular type of cable and wire products. It is impossible to build an effective security system without signal cables.
