  • VVGz, VVGzng, VVGzngd are power cables with copper conductors, PVC insulation and sheath, with filling.
  • They are designed for transmission and distribution of electricity in stationary installations for a rated alternating voltage of 0.66 and 1 kV with a frequency of 50 Hz.
  • They are laid in dry and damp industrial premises, on tray systems, in blocks, as well as outdoors, in conditions where cable gland is required at the entry to electrical equipment.
  • The cables have no armor, therefore they are not recommended for laying in the ground
Minimum service life is 30 years
Guaranteed service life is 5 years
Minimum bending radius Single-conductor cable: 10 x outer diameter
Multi-conductor cable: 7.5 x outer diameter
Temperature range installation: not below -15°С
operation: from -50°С to +50°С
Interpretation of cables VVGz, VVGzng, VVGzngd

The absence of letter A in the label means that the conductor is copper;

V – PVC insulation of the conductors;

V – PVC compound sheath;

G – no protective coating (“bare”);

z – filling of the inter-conductors space;

«ng» – does not support combustion;

«ngd» – does not support combustion, with reduced smoke and gas emission.

Detailed description

VVGz is a power cable with copper conductors with the PVC insulation and the sheath with filling the space between the insulated conductors. It is designed for transmission and distribution of electricity in stationary installations for a rated alternating voltage 0.66 and 1 kV, with a frequency of 50 Hz.

Applicability scope

The VVGz cable has proved itself as an excellent conductor in dry and damp industrial and warehouse premises, on tray systems and in blocks. The cable is also used for outdoor installation, in conditions where the cable gland is required at the entry to electrical equipment. The round shape of the conductor makes it dense, which means that it is additionally protected. It is widely used for laying on the surfaces of houses and buildings, in metal conduits and voids in the brick lining.

Varieties of VVGz with indices «ng» and «ngd» denote a cable made of non-combustible self-extinguishing materials. The ng marking indicates that the VVGzng cable is flame-retardant. It is used for the installation of lighting switchboards, switches, power sockets, stationary machines, machine tools and other mechanisms. In addition< it is used for wiring inside walls and through ceilings, in gypsum board structures, floating ceilings, wooden houses, as well as damp rooms with heating systems.

In the event of a fire, VVGzngd cable does not spread combustion and has a low toxicity of gases and smoke. Due to these properties, it is used for emergency power supply systems and in public places.

VVGzng and VVGzngd are used for bundle laying also in other places with an increased risk of a fire.

Design

The cable is made of copper conductors in PVC insulation and overall PVC sheath. The conductors are copper, single-wire or multi-wire (class 1, 2 DSTU EN 60288), ranging in the number from 2 to 5, with cross-section from 1.5 to 300 mm2. Internal and external spaces between insulated conductors are filled with PVC compound or unvulcanized rubber compound. The filling prevents the conductors from twisting inside the sheath and ensures that each conductor is firmly fixed. It also gives the cable an almost round shape.

Operation

The operating temperature of VVGz, VVGzng, VVGzngd ranges from -50°C to +50°C. The cable can withstand humidity up to 98% at a temperature not exceeding +35°С. The installation is permissible at a temperature not lower than -15°C, otherwise preheating of the cable is required.

The minimum bend radius during installation should not exceed 10 external cable diameters for a single-conductor cable and 7.5 external cable diameters for a multi-conductor cable. The long-term permissible conductor heating temperature during operation is 70°C, in an emergency mode -no more than 80°C, and in case of short circuit 160°C.
