Detailed description

PvPG refers to the copper power cables with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and light-stabilized polyethylene sheath.

PvPGng-HF is power cables with copper conductors, XLPE insulation, and halogen-free sheath.

They are used for continuous transmission of electricity and its distribution in stationary installations at a voltage of 1 kV and a frequency of 50 Hz.

Applicability scope

The use of polyethylene in the production of this type of cables has made them more flexible and lightweight, convenient for installation on complex multi-level routes. It has provided great operational reliability and transfer capacity. It also made it possible to lay in the areas with a large height difference, including vertical and inclined ones, and also provided a smaller diameter and bend radius.

PvPG is used in cable structures, production and storage facilities, specialized cable tray systems, channels, cable cellars, mines and collectors. If there is no danger of mechanical damage, PvPG can also be laid through the air. The laying in the ground is not recommended while the installation in trenches is possible only with mechanical protection.

PvPGng-HF cables refer to the group of halogen-free copper cables. They do not spread combustion  in case of group laying and do not emit corrosive gaseous products during combustion and smoldering. Due to these properties, they are used in places with increased requirements for fire safety, such as educational and medical institutions, metro buildings, office premises with a large number of various equipment, shopping centers, residential and public buildings, industrial facilities and for organizing emergency power supply at facilities with an increased fire and explosion hazard.

Design

The cables are designed using a round or sector single-wire or multi-wire copper conductor (class 1, 2 DSTU EN 60228). The conductors insulation is made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). The PvPG sheath is made of light-stabilized polyethylene, and PvPGng-HF sheath is made of a halogen-free polymer composition, which practically does not emit smoke, carbon monoxide and other harmful compounds when ignited. More detailed information about the design features of cables and their technical characteristics you can  obtained from the specialists of EUROPAN LLC.

Operation

The insulation made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) has high thermal stability at short-circuit currents, due to which PvPG and PvPGng-HF can withstand extreme temperatures up to 250°C. In an emergency mode, cables can operate at temperatures up to 130°C, retaining their shape, electrical and mechanical characteristics. The long-term permissible conductor heating temperature during operation is 90°C.

The normal operation of the cable is carried out at temperatures from -50°C to +50°C. And the installation without additional preheating is allowed at a temperature not lower than -15°C. The maximum permissible air humidity is 98% at a temperature of +35°C.

The minimum bend radius for single-cornductor cables is 10 outer cable diameters and for multi-conductors cables is 7.5 ones.

The service life of the cables is 30 years. The guaranteed service life is 5 years.
