Detailed description

PvVG is a power cable with copper conductors, vulcanized (cross-linked) polyethylene insulation, PVC compound sheath. It is designed for the transmission and distribution of the electrical energy in stationary installations for an alternating voltage of 0.66; 1 kV with a frequency of 50 Hz.

Applicability scope

This brand is designed for cable structures, production and storage facilities, specialized cable tray systems, channels, cable cellars, mines and collectors. The cable is more often used for indoor wiring, although outdoor installation is also possible, provided there is no risk of mechanical damage. PvVG is convenient for the installation and has good tensile strength characteristics, which allows it to be used on bridges and multi-level routes. It is resistant to moisture and can be used in rooms with high humidity.

It is not recommended for laying in the ground while in earth trenches it is necessary to use protection against mechanical damage.

PvVG does not spread combustion in case of a single laying. The cables in a sheath with non-combustible properties are used in crowded rooms with increased requirements for fire safety, places with a particularly high risk of fire, as well as in dry environments. They are marked with the letter index «ng» which means that the cable has a reduced flammability. And the index «ngd» indicates that the cable is flame-retardant and practically does not emit smoke during smoldering and burning. PvVGng and PvVGngd are used for group laying, since they practically do not support combustion in one bundle with other cables.

Design

PvVG, PvVGng and PvVGngd use a copper conductors. The conductors can be single-wire or multi-wire, of the 1st or 2d flexibility classes (class 1, 2 DSTU EN 60228). The number of conductors varies from 1 to 5. Their insulation is made of cross-linked (vulcanized) polyethylene. In multi-conductors cables, the conductors are stranded into a core and are color-coded. The outer sheath of the cable is made of PVC compound.

The experts of EUROPAN LLC will give you more detailed information on the characteristics of the cable, help you to select the conductor, taking into account the load power and the temperature range, as well as provide you with an additional advice.

 Operation

The normal cable operation is possible in a stationary state at temperatures from -50°C to + 50°C. The PVC material is thermoplastic and hardens at low temperatures, therefore installation is permissible at temperatures not lower than -15°C, otherwise the cable must be preheated.

The maximum permissible air humidity at which the cable is sufficient reaches 98% at a temperature of +35°С. The bend radius during installation is 7.5 and 10 outer cable diameters for multi-conductors and single-conductor cables, respectively.

PvVG refers to power cables with silanol-cross-linked polyethylene insulation. The use of this material made it possible to significantly increase the heating temperature of the conductors both during operation and during a short circuit. The maximum long-term permissible heating of the wires during operation should not exceed 90°C, in case of a short circuit – 250°C, in an emergency mode – no more than 130°C during 8 hours.

The service life is at least 30 years. The guaranteed service life is 5 years.

You can select and buy cables PvVG, PvVGng, PvVGngd on the website of EUROPAN LLC. All our products meet regulatory requirements and are certified in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation.
