Detailed description

PvBbSHv is a power armoured cable with copper conductors, insulation made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and a BbSHv-type protective coating. It is designed for the transmission and distribution of electrical energy in stationary installations for a rated alternating voltage of 0.66; 1 kV with a frequency of 50 Hz.

Applicability scope

PvBbSHv is actively used in areas with temperate and cold climates, on land, in rivers and lakes, outdoors and indoors. It is designed for stationary single electrical networks. It is used for laying in trenches, including in places where the soil is chemically active in relation to metal, regardless of the presence of leakage currents and the level of groundwater. It can be laid in swampy areas and salt marshes. It is also used for external wiring, installation in dry and damp rooms, collectors, ducts, cable cellars, mines and partially flooded rooms with various corrosive conditions. It is suitable for laying cable routes through the air with an unlimited level difference without significant tension strain in respect of the cable, but if there is  a risk of mechanical damage during operation.

The cable is resistant to cracking, chemical attack, and mechanical damage. It demonstrates low moisture absorption. It is eco-friendly, lead, oil, bitumen free. And its installation does not require special equipment.

In places with a high probability of fire and increased fire safety requirements, PvBbSHv cables are commonly used since they are made of  non-combustible materials. They are marked with the letter indices «ng» and «ngd». The «ng» index means that the PvBbSHvng cable does not spread combustion. And the index «ngd» indicates that the PvBbSHvngd cable does not support combustion and emits a minimum amount of smoke when exposed to high temperatures. PvBbSHvng and PvBbSHvngd can also be used for group laying.

Design

The main structural element of the cable is a copper conductor. They can be single-wire or multi-wire, round or sector shape, 1st or 2d flexibility classes (class 1, 2 DSTU EN 60228). The conductors are stranded into a core and insulated with silanol-crosslinked polyethylene. To give the cable a round shape, it is allowed to fill the spaces between the insulated conductors. The BbSHv-type protective coating is designed as a winding of two galvanized steel bands and a protective hose extruded from PVC compound.

Operation

PvBbSHv cables are designed for stationary operation. The operating temperature ranges from -50°С to +50°С. And when a relative humidity is up to 98% the temperature must not be higher than +35°С, including for laying outdoors. The  installation is carried out at a temperature not lower than -15°С; at lower temperatures, it is necessary to preheat the cable.

The minimum bending radius during installation must be at least 7.5 outer cable diameters for multi-conductors cables and 10 outer cable diameters for single-conductor cables.

The insulation made of silanol-crosslinked polyethylene allowed to increase the permissible conductor heating temperature during operation to 90°C. In an emergency mode, the cable can withstand up to 130°C, and at short-circuit currents up to 250°C. This, in turn, provided PvBbSHv with greater conductivity and reliability during operation.

The service life of the cables is at least 30 years. The guaranteed service life is 5 years.
